"Dawn again and the birds of oblivion sing / of all hungers": Molly Spencer's Invitatory (Parlor Press, 2024) and Of Poetry Podcast

It is not everyday you get to sit and talk with a poet you so deeply admire—for their ethics, their lyric making, their teaching; for the way they write the domestic; for their attention to art and landscape; for their understanding that all of this attention is political, and has both a cost and an invitation implicit in it.

I’m sending out this note to invite you to listen to Molly Spencer’s conversation with me on of Of Poetry Podcast, Episode 55: (Of Invitation, Bridges and Water, and How Should We Live?). Molly has a (prolonged, and patiently endured) health issue keeping her from promoting her book this summer, and so I especially want to urge my friends to find a copy of her book, share photos on online, share it with a close friend or two, have your library order it, brag about it to your local bookseller (they will order it!).

I really, really mean this.

Uplifting each other’s work is one of the most precious things we can do for each other as writers, as it is an impossible thing to do for yourself (you cannot be another person advocating for your work!).

Here is a link to purchase Invitatory at Parlor Press—note that you can get an ecopy for $10! In the meantime, please join Molly and me on Of Poetry Podcast for this lovely conversation involving windows, rivers and lakes, Catholicism, the Via Negativa, Calvino and more!
