Of Fine Paper, Running Micro Presses, and Opening to Poetry Manuscript Consultations

Something I am having to reckon with is that I am a bit of a paper—snob? Admirer? I love paper, its weights and colors, particularly when the reading of a poem is involved. ANYWAY: we chose more expensive paper for our next printings at River River Books (https://riverriverbooks.org/store/), and to offset the newly incurred costs, I’m opening up my Calendly to manuscript consultations (which I have not done for some time). Consultations are $200 each and include a 1-hour zoom conversation with me. Proceeds go directly to the press. You can read testimonials, as well as schedule, here: https://hanvanderhart.com/consultations/

Thanks for considering, and feel free to share with a friend looking for creative/critical response and to move their poetry manuscript forward in the world. I recently finished reading 300+ manuscripts for River River Books, and feel confident that the experience will benefit the feedback you receive.

Warmly,

Han

p.s. Poetry prompt as bonus: write a poem using a sewing metaphor/simile. Or write a poem where something does not escape. Maybe both?
